Lonely Boy – Andrew Gold (bass)

About the song

Lonely Boy was the biggest hit of Andrew Gold in 1977. The song tells the story of a boy who feels left alone when his little sister is born. Andrew Gold also wrote Thank You for Being a Friend, later the theme of The Golden Girls. A funny story with a sad smile.

My Notes:

This plays nicely on the bass. There is a lot of variation and the bass clearly indicates the tempo.
In the middle verse, the bass plays an extra low E in between, which gives a very nice groove.
No, the bass player does not have to get bored with this song.
Oh, and I missed that little high jump… So grab your bass and beat me in this song.

Sidenote:

I try to find recognizable easy to play songs for Bass on Rocksmith 2014. I don’t do extra practice for recording, so there will be mistakes. I changed the setup so the G string (orange) is on top and the E string is at the bottom, because I played TABS for guitar before. All songs are in the key of E standard. I like to thank all the creators of the custom DLC’s.
